Crocs - How to Enter a Swim Meet
Crocs:
The 2017 season is under way!!!
Next week will be the first official NWAL meet – we’ll be hosting the Imperial Oaks Seals!
For your swimmer to be able to swim in an official NWAL meet, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for making these three things happen. Every year, somebody forgets or messes up these items, so this note is being sent to emphasize these to the new families, and remind the veterans – nobody wants to be the family that didn’t get to swim because they forgot to do something.
1. Before you swim in any NWAL meet, you must have a seed time (a Time Trial time) for the event you want to enter. This is an NWAL rule and THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS!!! The swim team software won’t even allow you to enter a meet with No Time.
If your swimmer swam in Time Trials last weekend, this step is already taken care of.If you have already done Makeup Time Trials, this step is done – although your time will have to been entered into the computer manually by volunteer team parents, it will be done in time for your swimmer to enter the first meet.
If you have not yet done Time Trial timing, please CONTACT COACH FRENCH AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to make arrangements.IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS SOON, IT WILL BE TOO LATE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FIRST MEET.
2. You must enter your swimmer into the meet. Assuming step one is taken care of, you will be able to enter your swimmer any time, 24 hours a day, from wherever in the world you happen to be, via the internet, between sometime on Sunday when entries are opened, and TUESDAY NIGHT AT MIDNIGHT. For official meets, there is a deadline because we have to exchange entries with the other team(s) at a league mandated time. If you miss or forget the deadline, at a certain point during the week, we will not be able to do anything about it.
There are instructions about how to enter a meet on the website under Documents>Meet Sign Up Instructions. Once you enter your child in the meet, please double check to make sure everything worked and they are really entered – every year, someone thinks they entered, but forgot to hit save, and they really aren’t entered. Instructions on how to double check are included in the document.
If you have problems or questions with entries, email [email protected] as soon as you can. The longer you wait, the less likely we will be able to help.
3. Circle in. This one’s really simple, but absolutely necessary. On the morning of the meet, BEFORE 7:30 am, find the team circle in boards and circle your swimmer’s name(s). If they are on a relay, they need to circle in on both the boys/girls board, and the relay board. If you do not do this, the coaches will think you are not coming, and you are likely to be scratched from the meet and unable to swim that day.
If you have any questions about any of this, please email [email protected] and someone will be happy to help.
